BBSR-30/06- DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar, hosted the GP Memorial Inter‑School English Debate Competition in memory of former IAS & Social Activist Late Gopal Pattnaik. 54 participants from 27 DAV schools across Odisha participated in this the state‑level contest on the theme “War and Peace,” showcased spirited oratory and razor‑sharp reasoning as students debated the complex issues surrounding conflict and concord. The event began with an official welcome and inauguration by Chairman of the school Dr. Arun Kumar Rath, (IAS, Retd.) who praised the competitors for their confidence and clarity. The panel of judges Dr. Sachidanand Panda, Associate Professor of English, Xavier University and Dr. Amrita Satpathy, Assistant Professor of English, IIT Bhubaneswar noted the uniformly high standard of arguments by the participants in the day long event and commended the participants for thoughtful engagement with the topic.
In against of the motion Sriman Mishra of DAV Kalinga Nagar and Swayam Mishra of DAV NTPC/TTPS-Talcher Thermal bagged the Champion and Runner-up respectively. Likewise in for the motion Aerofillsita Sahoo of DAV, NTPC, Kaniha and Abyarthana Samanta of DAV Kalinga Nagar bagged the Champion and Runner-up respectively. The winners were awarded in a glittering closing ceremony at the end of the event in the gracious presence of the Regional Director, DAV Institutions, Odisha Dr. K.C. Satapathy, Regional Officer Dr. Sujata Sahu, Asst. Regional Officer Ms. Ipsita Das & Mr. Bipin Kumar Sahoo, Chairman of the school Dr. Arun Kumar Rath, Er. Gopal Prasad Ray, Judges and others. Principal of the school Mr. Balaram Mahapatra congratulated the winners highlighting the competition’s role in nurturing critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and ethical reflection among senior secondary and middle school students and expressed his gratitude to all concern for the smooth conduct of the programme.
