Bhubaneswar, (28/8): World Organ Donation Day (13 August), an Organ Donation Awareness Programme was organised for the residents and families of Gati Krushna Green Apartment, Bhubaneswar, on 28 August 2026. More than 100 participants, including office-bearers of the apartment society, men, women and resident families, actively participated in the programme.
Programme was conducted by Dr. Subash Chandra Sarangi, Organ Donation Ambassador, MOHAN (Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network) Foundation, who delivered an engaging and interactive awareness session on the importance of organ donation and its potential to save and transform human lives.
Dr. Sarangi explained various aspects of organ donation, including who can donate, what organs and tissues can be donated, process of donation, common misconceptions and the importance of discussing one’s decision with family members. Session was followed by an interactive Question & Answer session, during which participants raised several queries relating to organ donation and transplantation.
A special feature of the programme was a live, step-by-step demonstration of the online organ donation pledge procedure. Participants were guided through the process practically so that they could understand how an individual can formally express their willingness to donate organs after death.
Programme was organised in collaboration with Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, BJB Nagar Branch, Bhubaneswar. Centre In-Charge Sister BK Tapaswini highlighted the significance of organ donation as a noble humanitarian act capable of giving a new lease of life to patients awaiting transplantation. She also administered a pledge to the participants to remain free from addictions and maintain healthy lifestyles, thereby promoting good health and a spirit of service to society.
Other BK Brothers and Sisters, including BK Santosh, BK Dinabandhu, BK Bimbadhar and BK Susmita, actively facilitated the programme and contributed to its smooth conduct. BK Sushant and BK Minati, who themselves are organ donors, co-ordinated the overall programme and played an important role in its successful organisation.

The President, Secretary and other office-bearers of Gati Krushna Green Apartment Society appreciated the initiative and expressed their gratitude to Dr. Sarangi and the Brahma Kumaris team for conducting the meaningful awareness programme. They expressed the hope that similar programmes would be organised in the apartment community in the future to promote greater awareness about organ donation, healthy living and social responsibility.
Programme concluded with a collective reaffirmation that organ donation is not merely a medical decision but a noble commitment to humanity—one person’s decision can give several people a second chance at life.
