Addiction-Free India Campaign Held at University of Calcutta

Kolkata (11/8): Pragyan Foundation, in collaboration with ISSER International Education and Research, organized a major awareness programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan & Mission Spandan – Addiction Free Pledge Mega Campaign at Meghnad Saha Auditorium Hall, Rajabazar Science College, University of Calcutta, on Friday, 7th August, 2026.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of addiction and encourage people to adopt a healthy, balanced and addiction-free lifestyle. The initiative also promoted the 10 Crore Addiction Free Mega Campaign and emphasized collective responsibility in building a healthier society.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, educators, professionals and social representatives. The programme was presided over by eminent speaker Dr. Sachin Parab from Mumbai, who highlighted the importance of maintaining physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. He stressed that overcoming addiction requires awareness, determination, self-discipline and a holistic approach.

Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, President of Pragyan Foundation, spoke about preventive measures, healthy daily practices, yoga and wellness. Mr. Chandan Agarwal, CEO of Pragyan Foundation, highlighted the growing challenges of addiction among youth and emphasized yoga, mindfulness and positive lifestyle choices.

The event was attended by several distinguished academicians and professionals, including Prof. Dr. Dilip Kr. Maity, Former Vice-Chancellor of Biswa Bangla University, Santiniketan; Dr. Samir Chandra Das, System Manager and Professor, University of Calcutta; Dr. Lakhmi Narayan Satpathi, Director and Professor, HRDC, University of Calcutta; Dr. Sanjit Dey, Professor, Physiology Department, University of Calcutta; Dr. Tilottama Mukherjee, Professor of Psychology, University of Calcutta; and Dr. Somya Sankar Bose, General Secretary, Indian Psychiatrist Council.

The programme featured awareness sessions, discussions on yoga and meditation, youth engagement and collective participation in the Addiction Free Pledge.
