Special Winter Camp of NSS Concludes Successfully at Baba Panchalingeswar Degree College, Nilagiri.

Balasore(27/3) : The Special Winter Camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Baba Panchalingeswar Degree College, Santaragadia, concluded successfully on Friday, March 26, 2026.

The seven-day camp, organized under the aegis of Fakir Mohan University, commenced on March 20, 2026, with the participation of around 100 student volunteers. The camp was conducted under the able guidance of Programme Officer Shri Shriharisankar Panigrahi.

During the camp, several eminent resource persons shared their knowledge and expertise on diverse topics. Senior advocate Shri Amarendra Pattnaik spoke on child marriage and child labour, while retired teacher Shri Maniprasad Choudhury highlighted the importance of service in life. Shri Ratikanta Nayak delivered a session on disaster management and first aid. Cyber police officers Shri Basudev Dutta and Shri Dambarudhar Sashmal created awareness on cyber frauds.

Shri Pradeep Kumar Mishra discussed personality development, and Dr. Shankarsan Nayak, senior faculty of Economics, delivered a session on life skills education. Experts from the Institute of Nature Cure and Yogic Science, Balasore, conducted sessions on yoga and pranayama. Dr. Subash Chandra Sarangi, Naturopathy Consultant and Wellness Mentor, spoke on the importance of natural healing and healthy living.

Shri Gopal Chandra Sahu, Master Trainer from Kailash Fisheries, enlightened participants on self-reliance through fish farming. Dr. Pratima Pradhan, NSS District Programme Coordinator, explained the rules and principles of NSS, while former Programme Officer Shri Gauranga Panda shared insights into the objectives of the camp.

Other distinguished attendees included Shri Ganesh Chandra Tiadi, NSS awardee Shri Debendra Acharya, and Shri Ambuja Lochan Das.

Throughout the camp, volunteers actively participated in various social activities such as cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, plantation programs, and community outreach initiatives.

The valedictory function was held under the সভাপতিত্ব of Principal Shri Sisir Kumar Sahu. Dr. Subhashree Rath, Sub-Collector of Nilagiri and President of the Governing Body, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She encouraged the volunteers to become self-reliant and distributed certificates to all participants.

Shri Debidutta Preetiranjan Behera, Deputy Collector, Nilagiri, and Zilla Parishad Member Smt. Usharani Raul attended as Guests of Honour and motivated the volunteers to become responsible citizens.

The program concluded with an Odissi dance performance by volunteer Ms. Jayashree Ray, which added cultural vibrance to the event.
