Heritage Group of Institutions Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026 with Thought-Provoking Dialogue on Rights, Justice and Action

Kolkata(11/3) : The Heritage Group of Institutions commemorated International Women’s Day 2026 with an engaging and insightful discussion on the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.” The programme was held at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Heritage Campus, bringing together eminent leaders from industry, diplomacy, healthcare and academia to deliberate on advancing gender equity and inclusive leadership.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and guests across the Heritage campuses.

Delivering an inspiring address, Mrs. Joita Sen, Director, Senco Gold & Diamonds, said “Society, work, everything begins from the family. When there is equality in the family, that’s fundamentally where the difference starts and that’s how our mindset is set.”

Ms. Sreedevi Palit, Director – HR & Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Cognizant India, emphasized the importance of workplace inclusion and systemic support for women professionals. She said “True empowerment comes when organisations move beyond representation to meaningful inclusion, where every woman has the opportunity to lead, innovate and thrive.”

Highlighting the role of women in industry and entrepreneurship, Mrs. Vinita Bajoria, Chairperson, Nicco Cables Pvt. Ltd., spoke about resilience and leadership in traditionally male-dominated sectors. She remarked, “Women today are not just participants but key decision-makers shaping industries and economies.”

Ms. Rochita Dey, Director, Sreeleathers and Founder of House of SL, shared her entrepreneurial journey and spoke about how women outside the industry who do not have a male backing have to face a disproportionate amount of gender-based discrimination and exploitation.

From the global perspective, Mr. Bernard Lynch, Australian Consul General to Kolkata, highlighted international collaboration in promoting gender equality. He said, “Empowering women and girls is not just a social imperative but a fundamental driver of economic growth and global progress.”

Offering a healthcare perspective, Mr. Prashant Sharma, CEO, Charnock Hospital, said, “If we look at our ancient Indian practices—our heritage, our culture, our belief systems—we have always celebrated the feminine power.”

The session was moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Madhupa Bakshi, Dean, Department of Media Science, The Heritage Academy, who steered a dynamic conversation around the social, economic and institutional pathways required to ensure justice and opportunity for women.

Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, emphasized the role of education in shaping an equitable society. He said,“At Heritage Group of Institutions, we believe that empowering women through education, leadership opportunities and innovation is fundamental to building a progressive and inclusive society. Our campuses must continue to nurture confident young women who will lead change across sectors.”

Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Principal, Heritage Institute of Technology, highlighted the importance of institutional support in fostering gender equality. He remarked, “Institutions of higher education play a crucial role in creating environments where talent and merit thrive irrespective of gender. Through initiatives like this, we aim to inspire our students to champion equality, respect and opportunity for all.”
