Kolkata (1/1):Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Director of International Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, Kolkata was invited by National Academy of Security and Defense Planning Romania, as a keynote speaker in World Congress held at Manila recently. Dr. Agarwal addressed the Congress on the importance of Lifestyle Medicine. He said that our wrong lifestyle has led to so many disease nowadays. 70% of our disease are caused by our wrong lifestyle in respect to our food habits or sleep patterns or thinking patterns or breathing patterns. These factors are responsible for the lifestyle diseases such as Cardiovascular diseases, Obesity, Type 2 diabetes, Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), Cancer, Chronic respiratory diseases, etc.
Lifestyle medicine is a branch of healthcare that focuses on preventing, managing, and treating diseases through the modification of unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. It recognizes the crucial role of lifestyle factors, such as diet, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and substance use, in influencing overall health and well-being. Rather than solely relying on medications or invasive procedures, lifestyle medicine emphasizes empowering individuals to make positive choices that contribute to their long-term health. This holistic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and social well-being, acknowledging that lifestyle choices impact multiple aspects of health. By encouraging healthier habits and supporting individuals in adopting positive lifestyle changes. Lifestyle Medicine aims to prevent the onset of diseases and improve our overall quality of life. Dr.Agarwal conducted this workshop with high zeal and brings to the forefront a proactive approach of Lifestyle Medicine. The Participants actively participated in the workshop and requested to conduct such workshops again.
