Kolkata(21/9) :On the occasion of the United Nations International Day of Peace, the Rotary Club of Kasba honoured Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, President, World Yoga and Meditation Academy, with the prestigious “Global Peace Icon 2026 Award” in recognition of his contribution towards promoting inner peace, harmony and a culture of peaceful living. The Award was presented by Prof Samir Das of University of Calcutta, Dr Prosenjit Mukherjee of Bangawasi College, Dr Shubhajit Maity of Arambagh College, Dr Dr Ashok Kumar Chowdhury,, Secretary of ISSER, and Om Prakash Mishra, and Asish Basak Managing Trustee of Rotary Club of Kasba, in a Seminar where dignitaries from all walks of life were present.

Receiving the honour, Dr. Agarwal emphasised the close relationship between inner peace and world peace. He said, “Inner peace is the foundation of world peace. If individuals cultivate peace within themselves, it can gradually contribute to greater peace and harmony in families, communities and society.”
Dr. Agarwal also highlighted the importance of making meditation an integral part of daily life. Dr. Agarwal is also an author and has written several books and educational works on Yoga, Meditation, Naturopathy and the Bhagavad Gita, reflecting his continuing work in the fields of holistic well-being, spiritual awareness and human excellence.
The Global Peace Icon 2026 Award recognises his continuing efforts to promote the message that peace begins within the individual and expands into the world through compassion, harmony and conscious living.
