Kolkata (15/8) :The 80th Independence Day of India and the Foundation Day of the Organisation VAMM celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour through various social service and cultural programmes organised by the Organisation. The programmes aimed not only to express love and respect for the nation but also to extend support to underprivileged people and students.
On this special occasion, the programmes commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at 11 community centres under the Organisation. This was followed by patriotic songs, discussion sessions, and speeches highlighting the significance of Independence Day. At the same time, special puja and prayers dedicated to Sri Sri Thakur were organised, further strengthening the Organisation’s commitment to its ideals and the spirit of service to humanity.
The day also marked an important milestone in the Organisation’s social service activities with the inauguration of a new community centre at Kumarpur in Howrah. The new centre is expected to play an important role in promoting education, culture, and social development in the area in the years to come.
Considering the difficulties faced by poor families during the monsoon, plastic sheets were distributed to needy students to help protect their homes from rain and adverse weather conditions. This initiative reflected the Organisation’s compassionate commitment to standing by students and their families during times of hardship.
An art competition was also organised to encourage creativity and foster a sense of patriotism among children and young students. In addition, in keeping with the Government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, National Flags were distributed among students, who participated in the Independence Day celebrations by hoisting the Tricolour at their respective homes.
The entire programme beautifully brought together the values of the spirit of independence, patriotism, humanitarian service, and social responsibility. The multifaceted celebrations of 15 August were not merely confined to commemorating Independence Day; they will remain memorable as a meaningful initiative to stand beside the underprivileged and further strengthen the ideal of selfless service to society.
