Kolkata( 19/3) : The Heritage Group of Institutions has once again reaffirmed its academic excellence with outstanding performances in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. Students from the institution have secured multiple All India Ranks within the Top 100, marking a significant achievement at the national level.
Leading the cohort is Sahidul Islam, a final-year B.Tech (Biotechnology) student (Batch of 2026), who secured an exceptional All India Rank (AIR) 25 in Biotechnology, placing him among the top 0.003% candidates nationwide.
He is joined by other high achievers from the institution:

GATE continues to be one of India’s most competitive and prestigious examinations for postgraduate admissions and recruitment to Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). As per the latest available data trends, over 9.36 lakh candidates registered and 7,47,319 candidates appeared for the examination, reflecting the intense level of competition nationwide
Branch-wise participation further highlights the scale of competition:
Computer Science: 1,70,825 candidates appeared
Data Science & AI: 57,054 candidates appeared
Biotechnology: 20,048 candidates appeared
These figures underline the exceptional nature of the achievement.
Securing ranks within the Top 100 places these students among the top ~0.05% candidates nationwide, while Sahidul Islam’s AIR 25 positions him in the top 0.003%, an extraordinary academic distinction.
The Biotechnology paper, known for its interdisciplinary rigor, witnessed over 24,927 registrations and 20,048 candidates appearing, making Sahidul Islam and Aditya Anand’s achievements particularly noteworthy in a highly specialized domain.
Similarly, Computer Science remains the largest and most competitive paper, accounting for nearly 23% of total GATE participation, while Data Science & AI continues to emerge as one of the fastest-growing disciplines in recent years.
This collective achievement reflects the institution’s strong emphasis on academic rigor, mentorship, and a competitive learning environment that nurtures excellence across disciplines. It also reinforces Heritage’s consistent track record of producing top rankers in national-level examinations.
